Milk Yield Drop During Pregnancy — Feed Adjustment Guide

A gradual decline in milk yield as pregnancy advances is normal and expected — the body is redirecting resources toward the growing calf and preparing for the next lactation. Knowing how to adjust feed through this transition helps protect both the current milk supply and the coming calving.

Feed Guidance
Some milk decline in later pregnancy is normal and does not need aggressive correction — trying to force yield back up with excess feed can lead to over-conditioning ahead of calving, which carries its own risks. Continue a yield-matched lactation feed like GOKA Star or Challenger 8000 through most of the pregnancy, then transition to GOKA Dry Feed at the planned dry-off, generally 45-60 days before expected calving. A sudden, steep milk drop (rather than gradual decline) alongside other symptoms is different from normal pregnancy-related decline and may need veterinary review.
